About Freezerburned

My name is Kim, and I eat a lot of frozen meals. Which isn’t a great thing, but it’s not-so-bad.

A few years ago on my personal site I used to review frozen ‘diet’ meals in my quirky own way. I usually take a photo of the box, showing what the meal should look like, and a photo of the meal after it emerges from the microwave. I make every effort to cook the meal according to its instructions; however, sometimes other factors come into play, such as people waiting to use the microwave at work.

I then tell you what I think the meal tastes like. I’m not a food critic…I don’t know a Bouillabase from a Bechamel. But I know what tastes good.

The site’s stylesheet/layout is inspired by the Blix template.

I also want to add that I’m not a food stylist. The pictures are lit by office or kitchen lighting. The box or tray is plopped on my desk or kitchen counter and photographed. Sometimes with my Nikon Coolpix, sometimes with my iPhone. The pictures are brought into Photoshop and resized. The only touching I do is to adjust the lighting level, in case the photo is too dark or Photoshop smudges off of my counter top, since I’m sloppier than I want you to think. There is no malicious doctoring of the pics.

And if you’re wondering about the title…most of these meals have red peppers in them. Both in strip and chunk variety. I’m not fond of red peppers.

I am not associated with any of the companies that produce frozen meals.
